Resource and Curriculum Orders
We are so excited to have so many new families join us this year! We are working as quickly as possible to fill orders for curriculum and resources. Please be patient as with us in filling orders – we know that you are excited to begin! If your order has not been placed within 10 business days, then you can contact your mentor for further assistance. We are working hard to serve as many students as we can, and we truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we process orders.

Third Party Vendor Information
What is a third party vendor? They are teachers or tutors that you are able to use your resource funds to pay for. We will cover group classes, tutoring and individual (one-on-one) classes, such as piano, dance, tumbling, hula, and SCUBA lessons. However we will not pay for team sports. We have quite a few Big Island vendors that are already approved. If you wish to get your vendor approved, simply share this link with them https://harmonyed.com/frc/vendor-application/. They must upload a W9 and submit a background check. You must get your vendor approved before placing your resource request. This year we are sending checks in the vendor name to you, the parent, and then you will deliver the check to your vendor.

Alternate Work Submissions
In place of submitting a worksheet, students can submit work that covers the same state standard content as the worksheet/standard. You will upload the alternate work into Canvas, just as you would a Flex worksheet, along with a separate page stating which worksheet it is in lieu of. Just like a Flex worksheet, the grader will open, download, and review student submission, and then compare submitted work to the standards outline in the Parent Handbook.

Graders will assign a score as follows:  100% or parent assigned score – submission meets state standards criteria,  50% – submission doesn’t meet or fill the requirement but does show some work, 0% – submission is from a wrong course or grade or does not meet any requirements from state standards criteria. Students may re-submit as desired for a better score.

Examples of work that can be submitted include: workbook pages from other curricula, book report projects, science projects (include a detailed, grade appropriate explanation of what the content covered), or a print-out work from online programs (IXL, teaching textbooks, etc).

Positive Parenting Quote of the Month
“To be in your children’s memories tomorrow, you have to be in their lives today.”

We wish you a wonderful school year. Please don’t hesitate to contact Myles or myself if you have any problems or concerns.
