End-of-Year Testing
RISE is the state end-of-year testing that is required for all students in grades 3-8. You will need to sign up your children for testing or complete the parental exclusion (opt out form) and return it to your mentor.

  • Location:  Logan City School District is providing in-person testing at schools within the Logan City School District.
  • Dates:  Testing is going on now through May 21.
  • Scheduling:  If you would like to have your children take the RISE assessments, please contact Darlene VonNiederhausern at darlene.vonniederhausern@loganschools.org, and she will make arrangements for you.

Opting OutIf you decide that you don’t want your children to take the RISE assessment, you will need to complete the parent exclusion (opt out) form for each of your children. For those that opt out, there is no adverse consequence this year, or in future years. It will not affect placement in a grade next year or in the future.

  • Click here for the 2020-21 Parental Exclusion Form.
  • Each child needs to be on a separate form.
  • Be sure to complete the elementary form for students in grades 3-5 and the secondary form for students in grades 6-8.
  • Return the completed opt out form to your mentor by Friday, April 30.

Enrollment for 2021-22
We have enjoyed working with your family for the 2020-21 school year.  Harmony is now ready to enroll your child(ren) for the new school year for 2021-22. We wanted to let you know what the next steps will be.

You’ll be receiving an email which will accept your child(ren) to the Iron County School District, one of our partner schools. Since your children will be transferring to a new school district, the acceptance email will contain all the information you will need to enroll them in this school. That email will also include a way to respond if you don’t plan on continuing with Harmony for the new school year.

We know that you’ll have questions about the Iron County program, and there are many similarities with the Harmony program that has been offered with Logan City School District this year. Please review the overview below for a general outline.

If you have any questions about the Iron County enrollment process, program details, or course requirements, you may contact Harmony’s enrollment team at enrollment@harmonyed.com.

Harmony Portfolio Courses
Here’s a reminder to learning logs each week for your child’s Harmony Portfolio courses.  Learning logs help students meet attendance requirements and also let us know what your child has been working on during the week.

If you have not submitted the 3rd quarterly portfolio yet, please do so right away. Portfolio submissions need to show what the student has been learning for the past two months. The final quarterly portfolio submission due date for 2nd semester is:

  • May 7:  4th quarterly portfolio due

Please note that for second semester, two quarterly portfolio submissions will be required. The guidelines for portfolios are as follows:

  • 5-8 portfolio items per subject.
  • Items need to show student work, and examples could include worksheets, reports, tests/quizzes, science projects, etc.  Remember that portfolio Items should be the student’s actual work, not a learning log or description of what the student has been doing.
  • Portfolio items need to be grade-level work.
  • Portfolio items need to demonstrate student work over the course of at least 2 months.
  • Be sure that any files that you submit are in pdf or jpeg format. Some formats are not accessible for our teachers. Only file formats that a teacher can access will be graded.

If you have any questions about portfolios, please contact your mentor.

Reimbursement Requests
You are able to submit a reimbursement request each month from now through May 31 for each child. Only one document may be uploaded for each reimbursement request, but you may include multiple receipts in the document.

You can check your student’s funding balance by going to your parent dashboard and scrolling down to see your child’s name. Then click on Student Funding Account. There you’ll see the remaining balance for your child.

You can also check the status of your resource orders by clicking on each resource order link.  If there is an issue with your resource order, you can contact the ordering department by submitting a Help Desk Ticket.  You may leave comments related to missing items, provide additional information, etc.  Note: The Help Desk is only for resource order questions.

Staying on Pace
Be sure to stay on pace with your submissions, as well as online coursework. Logan City School District reviews progress reports each month.

Contact your mentor if you have a question or issue regarding your student’s courses.  Your mentor is your main point of contact at Harmony and is available to help with any issues and concerns you may be having about courses, ordering, grades, etc.

Warm regards,

Nancie Pratt, Program Manager
Hannah Keller, Mentor
Heather Taylor, Mentor
