What is included in the kits?
Elective kits may include supplies, books, curriculum, or other elective course resources. The arts are a fundamental part of every child’s cultural heritage and, as such, enhance the quality of life. The fine arts nurture creativity, an essential life skill, and serve the education of the whole child. The study of drama, dance, music, and the visual arts helps students explore relationships and ideas that cannot be expressed simply in other ways, serving to connect our imaginations with the history of human existence. Learning in the fine arts is valuable on its own, but it also engages students with learning in other subjects. Research has shown visual arts instruction to improve reading readiness. Performing and creating facilitates the acquisition of problem-solving skills and teamwork. Those skills then can be applied to other academic areas.
