Resource and Curriculum Orders
We have had unprecedented numbers of students enrolling this year. Now that most students are through the enrollment process, we are working as quickly as possible to fill orders for curriculum and resources. Please be patient with us in filling orders – we know that you are excited to begin! If you have not heard from the ordering department or received log-in information or Flex sheets two weeks after you have finalized your courses or two weeks after you submitted your order, THEN contact your mentor for further assistance. We are working hard to serve as many students as we can, and we truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we process orders.
Third Party Vendor Information
What is a third party vendor? They are teachers or tutors that you are able to use your resource funds to pay for. We will cover group classes, tutoring and individual (one-on-one) classes, such as piano, dance, tumbling, hula, and SCUBA lessons. We will not pay for team sports. We have quite a few Big Island vendors that are already approved. If you wish to get your vendor approved, simply share this link with them https://harmonyed.com/frc/vendor-application/. They must upload a W9 and submit a background check. You must get your vendor approved before placing your resource request. This year we are sending checks in the vendor name to you, the parent, and then you will deliver the check to your vendor.
Brand new this year is our new platform Canvas. We are working hard to get this platform up and running, with no kinks. However, there have been many issues that have cropped up since sending out logins to students. We truly appreciate your patience as we work out these kinks and get Canvas running smoothly. Please read the email your mentor sent you on Friday with specifics on how to handle any difficulties- they will be answering the many questions that have been sent to mentors in the past two weeks.
A couple things to keep in mind:
- You may STILL upload your worksheets in any order (with the exception of math which typically covers skills that build upon one another).
- If you do the sheets via the “quiz,” you may NOT do them in any order; you must do them in the order loaded into Canvas.
- You may still upload alternative work, or Flex Portfolio work. Please make a note to the graders which standard you are covering, or which worksheet this work is similar to.
- All live sessions will take place on Thursdays. Please see the schedule attached to Friday’s email for times for each grade level (we added a Kindergarten teacher too!).
- If you are submitting multiple pages of a worksheet, we are working on ways to streamline this process. Please look for the email from the Flex team for ways that this has been improved.
We thank each and every one of you for your patience and understanding as we get Canvas running the way we need it to!
The new interface for K12 requires students to enter a password for the Learning Coach when students take a quiz. The Learning Coach name was sent to you as a Guardian account, use that username and password. That will allow students to take a quiz!
Middle schoolers are required to take a fifth core classes, Hawaiian Language or Olelo. This course is run by Kanu Kumu Tuu Goo. It is the one course your students take that is not provided by Harmony. If you have any questions concerning this course, please contact Tuu at email@example.com, not your mentor. Mahalo!
Positive Parenting Quote of the Month
By loving them for more than their abilities we show our children that they are much more than the sum of their accomplishments. -Eileen Kennedy-Moore
