Important: Wasatch Homeroom / Attendance
Be sure to have your child respond to the weekly discussion post in the Wasatch Homeroom in Canvas. The question is posted each Friday, and you have until the following Friday to answer the question. Doing so provides WLA a weekly “attendance log,” and this is an important part of your child’s enrollment with WLA.

Introducing WhyTry
Harmony is introducing a new course, Growth Mindset with WhyTry! This life skills course aims to fill a student’s imaginary backpack with tools for life success. Through a combination of age-appropriate hands-on activities using creative metaphors, art activities, music, and journaling, students will explore strategies for life. WhyTry is a 16-week course for students in grades K-3 and 4-6. Look for more information in an email coming soon.

Spotlight: Study Island
Did you know that Harmony provides Study Island accounts to all students? Study Island provides K–12 practice and standards mastery in language arts, math, science, and social studies. It will help improve your child’s proficiency and retention in these key subjects. This program also provides test prep for year-end state assessments.

While Study Island is a beneficial program for all students, for students with Flex or Portfolio courses, Study Island may be used as a part of the student’s curriculum.

You are encouraged to use this program with your children as best meets their needs. There are no expected number of activities, and students are not required to use this program.

Note: Students in the Wasatch Connect program receive other supplemental programs.

Staying on Pace
With a new quarter having just started, it’s a good time to make sure that your child is on pace with their coursework.  Please be sure to stay on pace with your submissions, as well as online coursework.

Contact your mentor if you have a question or issue regarding your student’s courses.  Your mentor is your main point of contact at Harmony and is available to help with any issues and concerns you may be having about courses, ordering, grades, etc.

Harmony Portfolio Courses
Be sure to submit learning logs each week for your child’s Harmony Portfolio courses.  This helps to stay on pace and to tell what your child has been working on during the week.

Once a quarter you will submit a portfolio for each core subject that shows that the student has been learning.  Here are the quarterly portfolio submissions dates for 2nd semester:

  • Feb. 10: 3rd quarter portfolio due
  • April 28: 4th quarter portfolio due

If you have any questions about portfolios, please contact your mentor.

Resource Ordering
Resource ordering is now open through January 31. This includes resource orders for learning materials, Internet, and 3rd Party in which Harmony pays directly for the orders.

You are also able to submit a reimbursement request each month from now through May for each child. You can now submit multiple files per reimbursement request, so you no longer need to combine receipts into one document.

You can check your student’s funding balance by going to your parent dashboard and clicking on the Funding tab.

You can also check the status of your resource orders by clicking on each resource order link.  If there is an issue with your resource order, you can contact the ordering department by submitting a Help Desk Ticket.  You may leave comments related to missing items, provide additional information, etc.  Note: The Help Desk is only for resource order questions.
