Calendars
A great place to stay up-to-date on important dates is the calendar found on the parent dashboard. Here you’ll find information such as Flex submission dates, testing dates, school dates,  etc.

Click here for the official Wasatch County School District calendar for the 2021-22 school year.

Upcoming School Dates:

  • Oct. 7: First term ends – all work due for 1st term
  • Oct. 11-15: Fall Break

Important: Wasatch Homeroom / Attendance
Be sure to have your child respond to the weekly discussion post in the Wasatch Homeroom in Canvas. The question is posted each Friday, and you have until the following Thursday to answer the question. Doing so provides WLA a weekly “attendance log” and helps them to have a connection with students. This is an important part of your child’s attendance with WLA.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Piper Riddle, director of Wasatch Learning Academy, at 435-654-6018 or piper.riddle@wasatch.edu.

**Please note that this is separate from the Harmony Flex and Portfolio courses that are in Canvas, so your child will have two Canvas accounts. We’ve been told that on the mobile Canvas app, you are able to toggle between accounts.

Important: 1st Term Grades
The 1st term (quarter) will end on October 7, and Wasatch Learning Academy will be issuing report cards for the term. All student work for 1st term must be completed and submitted no later than October 7.

Be sure to have all Flex and Portfolio submissions up-to-date (see more information below). For online courses, be sure that your child is current on their pacing. If you have questions about that, please contact your mentor.

Acadience Math Assessment
The Utah State Office of Education has added the Acadience Math assessment this year for students in grades 1-3. You will be receiving information from Wasatch Learning Academy with assessment details and sign-ups, so be sure to look for that.

This is the first year that Utah public schools have had free access to nationally-normed math assessments.  This information will provide teachers and families with specific information as to your child’s strengths in mathematics (both computation and conceptual skills), as well as areas to focus on as we support your children’s learning.

Flex Submission Dates for 1st Term Grades
For first term grades, be sure to have the following worksheets submitted for Flex courses no later than Oct. 7, the last day of the term, so that the worksheets can be graded for the 1st quarter grade report.

  • Flex LA, Math, Science, Social Studies for grades 1-8:  4 worksheets/quizzes
  • Flex Kindergarten LA, Math:  4 worksheets/quizzes
  • Flex Kindergarten Science: 2 worksheets/quizzes
  • Flex Electives: 3 worksheets

Here are the remaining Flex Direct and Flex Independent submission dates for the first semester. The Kindergarten worksheet submissions are in parentheses.

September 17 – (Kindergarten – Language Arts, Math)
October 1 – (Kindergarten – Language Arts, Math, Science)
October 15 – (Kindergarten – Language Arts, Math)
October 29 – (Kindergarten – Language Arts, Math, Science)
November 12 – (Kindergarten – Language Arts, Math)
November 26 – (Kindergarten – Language Arts, Math, Science)
December 10 – (No Kindergarten Submission)

Flex worksheets for Kindergarten courses have the following totals.

  • Kindergarten Language Arts:  16 total worksheets for the year
  • Kindergarten Math:  16 total worksheets for the year
  • Kindergarten Science:  8 worksheets for the year

Please note which Kindergarten worksheets will be submitted for each date.

Please note that you are encouraged to use the Flex answer keys to grade your child’s worksheet. You can score the worksheet and mark it at the top of the first page with a circle. For example, “18/20 correct”. Our graders will then review and enter the score.

To find helpful information about Flex Direct or Flex Independent courses, log into the Family Resource Center and go to the Curriculum Orientation. From the sidebar menu, select the Flex module. You’ll find FAQs, which include submission instructions and a submission video.

1st Quarterly Portfolio Submissions
The 1st quarterly portfolio is due on October 1. Be sure to submit the portfolio items on time so that our teachers have time to review and grade the submissions for the 1st term grades.

The portfolio guidelines are as follows:

  • 5-8 portfolio items of student work per subject.
  • Items need to show student work, and examples could include worksheets, reports, tests/quizzes, science projects, etc.  Remember that portfolio Items should be the student’s actual work, not a learning log or description of what the student has been doing.
  • Portfolio items need to be grade-level work.
  • Portfolio items need to demonstrate student work since school started.

The weekly learning logs are not required this year, since WLA has implemented a weekly discussion post for attendance purposes. Please see the above section “Wasatch Homeroom / Attendance” for more information.

Wasatch Connect Program
Wasatch Connect is an educational program available with Wasatch Learning Academy and Harmony Educational Services. Wasatch Connect certified teachers bring the classroom into your home and take the stress out of parent instruction. Teachers provide classroom instruction via live online classes for Language Arts and Literacy, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Parents provide support to their children and ensure that each child has Internet access and a computer.

Live instruction in the core subjects is given daily on Mondays through Thursdays. Teachers not only teach the grade level curriculum, but also identify areas of need and provide small group instruction to help students with individual strengths and challenges. Your child will participate with classmates in class discussions and activities.

Students receive access to district supplemental software, including Waterford literacy, Acadience reading, DreamBox math, Microsoft Office, and more. Additionally, families choose elective classes through Harmony. Resource ordering for computers, Internet, and additional learning materials is also available to Wasatch Connect students.

If you are interested in signing up for Wasatch Connect, contact your Harmony mentor today!

Computers for WLA/Harmony Courses
As you assess your children’s needs for tablets or laptops, you can order those items on Harmony’s Technology resource order form.

Students who live within Wasatch County School District boundaries and are doing Wasatch Connect courses may borrow a device from Wasatch Learning Academy.

For students who live within the WCSD boundaries but are not taking Wasatch Connect, be sure to order any necessary devices with Harmony.

Parent Dashboard
Get to know your way around the new Parent Dashboard in the Family Resource Center. The green Start Here button is a very handy feature to help you follow the steps to resource ordering. All the information about your children, course selections, resource orders, and available funding is included there! Also, you can refer back to the Orientations throughout the school year to review helpful information.

MobyMax Placement Tests and Quiz Resets
If your child has a MobyMax course, be sure to check out the helpful information in the MobyMax section of the Curriculum Orientation. If you would like your child to take a placement assessment for Language Arts or Math, please contact your mentor, and we’ll get that set up for you.

Also, if you would like your child to retake a MobyMax quiz or redo a lesson, please contact your mentor with the module name and quiz or lesson title, so that we can reset it. Lessons and quizzes that have been reset will generally appear in the Assignments tab on the MobyMax student dashboard.

Odyssey Curriculum and Quiz Resets
Here’s some helpful information from the Odyssey section of the Curriculum Orientation for resetting quizzes and tests.

Reviewing Lesson Materials before Taking a Quiz
To review lesson materials before taking a quiz, the student would not find these learning activities in the gradebook. They would need to go back to the portfolio to find them. Once you find it, click on the details and look at the activities that precede the quiz.

Retaking Activity Quizzes
Odyssey activity quizzes can be redone by typing the activity code in the bottom right corner of their homepage in Odyssey.  Learning activities and activity quizzes disappear when they are completed. To find the activity code, students can look in their Portfolio, on the top left side of their homepage in Odyssey, or in the Gradebook. Then copy the activity code and paste it into the box next to the magnifying glass on the Odyssey homepage. Push “enter” and the quiz will appear again.

Resetting Lesson Quizzes and Chapter Tests
There are some activities that don’t have activity codes. These are lesson quizzes or chapter tests. These have to be reset by a member of the Odyssey team. Please fill in the form at this link for a reset: https://harmonyed.com/orientation/curriculum/section/7430969/topic/7430979/

You can also request a quiz reset by going to this link: harmonyed.com/quiz-reset/

Course Registration and Resource Orders
We are so excited to have so many new families join us this year!  We are working as quickly as possible to fill orders for curriculum and resources. Please be patient with us in filling orders.

If you have not heard from the ordering department or received login information or Flex worksheets two weeks after your child’s course registration has been approved or two weeks after you submitted your order, THEN you can contact your mentor for further assistance. We are working hard to serve as many students as we can, and we truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we process orders.

You can also check the status of your resource request by logging in to the Family Resource Center and going to the parent dashboard. Select your student’s name to see the status of their course registration and/or resource orders.
