Important: Wasatch Homeroom / Attendance
We want to let you know that all Harmony students will receive a Wasatch Homeroom course in Canvas. You will receive an email from Wasatch Learning Academy with more information and your child’s login. **Please note that this is separate from the Harmony Flex and Portfolio courses that are in Canvas.

You may wonder why Wasatch Learning Academy has implemented a homeroom course with required interaction each week from all WLA/Harmony students.  Here are just a few of the reasons:

  • Utah’s State Board of Education has new rulings regarding online schools, including the requirement that the school has weekly contact with all students in the school community. The homeroom course will facilitate meeting that requirement for interaction and attendance.
  • Wasatch Learning Academy is striving to build a school community across the state of Utah. The homeroom course is by grade level and provides a teacher-supervised opportunity for students to discuss their learning.
  • Your child’s homeroom course allows you and your child to have access to a grade-level educator for any questions or help. It also allows access to resources and information shared by the WLA school administration, counselor, intervention staff, etc.

WLA teachers will post a “question of the week,” and each week your child will go into their Homeroom course and respond to the teacher-posted question. It’s that simple! Doing so provides WLA a weekly “attendance log” and helps them to have a connection with students.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Piper Riddle, director of Wasatch Learning Academy, at 435-654-6018 or piper.riddle@wasatch.edu.

Wasatch Connect Program
Wasatch Connect is an educational program available with Wasatch Learning Academy and Harmony Educational Services. Wasatch Connect certified teachers bring the classroom into your home and take the stress out of parent instruction. Teachers provide classroom instruction via live online classes for Language Arts and Literacy, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Parents provide support to their children and ensure that each child has Internet access and a computer.

Live instruction in the core subjects is given daily on Mondays through Thursdays. Teachers not only teach the grade level curriculum, but also identify areas of need and provide small group instruction to help students with individual strengths and challenges. Your child will participate with classmates in class discussions and activities.

Students receive access to district supplemental software, including Waterford literacy, Acadience reading, DreamBox math, Microsoft Office, and more. Additionally, families choose elective classes through Harmony. Resource ordering for computers, Internet, and additional learning materials is also available to Wasatch Connect students.

If you are interested in signing up for Wasatch Connect, contact your Harmony mentor today!

Computers for WLA/Harmony Courses
As you assess your children’s needs for tablets or laptops, you can order those items on the Technology resource order form.

Students who live within Wasatch County School District boundaries and are doing Wasatch Connect courses may borrow a device from Wasatch Learning Academy.

For students who live within the WCSD boundaries but are not taking Wasatch Connect, be sure to order any necessary devices with Harmony.

Parent Dashboard
Get to know your way around the new Parent Dashboard in the Family Resource Center. The green Start Here button is a very handy feature to help you follow the steps to resource ordering. All the information about your children, course selections, resource orders, and available funding is included there! Canvas Logins
If your child has a Flex Direct, Flex Independent, or Harmony Portfolio course, you will be receiving an email with a login to Canvas, a learning management system for these courses. Harmony Portfolio Courses
With the Students with Harmony Portfolio courses are expected to submit a weekly learning log or narrative that outlines the educational objectives that the student met during that calendar week. The first quarterly portfolio submission is due on Oct. 1, 2021.

MobyMax Curriculum
If your child has a MobyMax course, be sure to check out the helpful information in the MobyMax section of the Curriculum Orientation. If you would like your child to take a a placement assessment for Language Arts or Math, please contact your mentor, and we’ll get that set up for you.

Odyssey Curriculum
We are excited to bring back Odyssey for the 2021-22 school year. Odyssey is an online program for grades K-8. Each Odyssey course is organized into learning paths that align with state standards. Math courses are sequential, and students follow the organized outline to complete lessons and assignments. Other subjects (Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies) are organized so that students can do any assignment whenever they want, but the course is outlined in the suggested order. All course material is provided online, so there is no textbook. Parents may choose to order learning resources that supplement the Odyssey course content. On average, students spend 30 minutes a day working on assignments for each subject.

If you are interested in Odyssey, please refer to the Curriculum Orientation for more information.

Course Registration and Resource Orders
We are so excited to have so many new families join us this year!  We are working as quickly as possible to fill orders for curriculum and resources. Please be patient with us in filling orders.

If you have not heard from the ordering department or received login information or Flex sheets two weeks after your child’s course registration has been approved or two weeks after you submitted your order, THEN you can contact your mentor for further assistance. We are working hard to serve as many students as we can, and we truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we process orders.

You can also check the status of your resource request by logging in to the Family Resource Center and going to the parent dashboard. Select your student’s name to see the status of their course registration and/or resource orders.
