Happy October! Can you believe we are already coming up on the end of 1st quarter? We are excited to have your students in our program and are glad to be a part of their learning journey.
As a reminder, your mentor is your main point of contact and is always happy to help and lead you through the school year. If you aren’t sure who your mentor is, go to the Parent Dashboard in the Family Resource Center and click on the mentor tab to find out.

Calendar
A great place to stay up-to-date on important dates is the calendar found on the parent dashboard. Here you’ll find information such as Flex submission dates, testing dates, school dates, etc.
Upcoming School Dates:
- Oct. 7: First term ends – all work due for 1st term
- Oct. 10-18: Fall Break
Important: Homeroom / Attendance
Be sure to have your child respond to the weekly discussion post in the Wasatch Homeroom in Canvas. The question is posted each Friday, and you have until the following Friday to answer the question. Doing so provides WLA a weekly “attendance log” and helps them to have a connection with students. This is an important part of your child’s attendance with WLA.

Important: 1st Term Grades
The 1st term (quarter) will end on October 7, and Wasatch Learning Academy will be issuing report cards for the term. All student work for 1st term must be completed and submitted no later than October 7.
Be sure to have all Flex and Portfolio submissions up-to-date. For online courses, be sure that your child is current on their pacing. If you have questions about that, please contact your mentor.
Orientations Available for Review
Here’s a reminder that the Harmony, Wasatch, and Curriculum Orientations are always available to review the information! To find the Orientations, go to the parent dashboard and click on Orientations. Choose the orientation that you would like to review. This is a helpful way to keep up-to-date about the Harmony program and curriculum.
School Pathways Logins
School Pathways is the student management system that Harmony uses to keep all course grades in one place. Grades are updated throughout the month, and you can check here to see your child’s grades.
You will be receiving an email with School Pathways logins for your children. If you haven’t received that yet or have questions about the grades, please contact your mentor.
Flex Submission Dates for 1st Term Grades
For first term grades, be sure to have the following worksheets submitted for Flex courses no later than Oct. 7, the last day of the term, so that the worksheets can be graded for the 1st quarter grade report.
- Flex LA, Math, Science, Social Studies for grades 1-8: 4 worksheets/quizzes
- Flex Kindergarten LA, Math: 4 worksheets/quizzes
- Flex Kindergarten Science: 2 worksheets/quizzes
- Flex Electives: 3 worksheets
Here are the remaining Flex Direct and Flex Independent submission dates for the 2nd quarter. The Kindergarten worksheet submissions are in parentheses.
October 15 – (Kindergarten – Language Arts, Math)
October 29 – (Kindergarten – Language Arts, Math, Science)
November 12 – (Kindergarten – Language Arts, Math)
November 26 – (Kindergarten – Language Arts, Math, Science)
December 10 – (No Kindergarten Submission)
Please note that you are encouraged to use the Flex answer keys to grade your child’s worksheet. You can score the worksheet and mark it at the top of the first page with a circle. For example, “18/20 correct”. Our graders will then review and enter the score.
To find helpful information about Flex Direct or Flex Independent courses, log into the Family Resource Center and go to the Curriculum Orientation. From the sidebar menu, select the Flex module. You’ll find FAQs, which include submission instructions and a submission video.
1st Quarterly Portfolio Submissions
The 1st quarterly portfolio was due Sept. 16, and the final day to submit portfolios for 1st quarter is Oct. 7. The portfolio guidelines are as follows:
- 5-8 portfolio items of student work per subject.
- Items need to show student work, and examples could include worksheets, reports, tests/quizzes, science projects, etc. Remember that portfolio Items should be the student’s actual work, not a learning log or description of what the student has been doing.
- Portfolio items need to be grade-level work.
- Portfolio items need to demonstrate student work since school started.
Resource Orders
Ordering is open for all types of ordering. For all ordering types except reimbursement, you can submit one order per semester per student. The 1st semester ordering period is July 1 – Oct. 31, and the 2nd semester ordering period is Dec. 1 – Jan. 31.
Request Technology: As you assess your children’s needs for tablets or laptops, you can order those items on Harmony’s Technology resource order form.
Request Educational Supplies & Resources: Order all your general supplies, workbooks, textbooks, pencils, art supplies, museum membership, etc. You can submit items from multiple websites.
Request 3rd Party Payments: Once your 3rd party vendors are approved, you can request the payment for them here. You will receive a check to pay them once it is processed. If you are taking a full-year class, make sure to split up the payments by semesters.
Internet Payments: Use this to request up to $225 payable to your internet service provider per semester. Note: This is limited to one per family.
Request Curriculum Subscriptions and/or Kits: If you want to purchase curriculum or other subscriptions offered through Harmony (like MobyMax, Dreambox, etc.) and use it as an extra resource, this is the place.
Request Reimbursement: Reimbursements can be submitted up to 10 times per year – once for each month of the school year. Only 1 file can be submitted per submission, so you can include several receipts into one document and submit them that way.
Request Educational Subscriptions: Educational subscriptions include subscriptions for Tinker Crate, ABC Mouse, Kiwi Crate, and dozens of other educational subscription options. If you don’t see an item listed, you can request that subscription when you request school supplies.
You can also check the status of your resource request by logging in to the Family Resource Center and going to the parent dashboard. Select your student’s name to see the status of their course registration and/or resource orders.
Supplemental Programs
Emails with logins for the supplemental programs are being sent out to students who have completed course registration. These programs include Reading Eggs, BrainPop, Study Island, and Spelling Stars. They can be used as supplements to your child’s regular curriculum. Also, no pacing guides or grading will be used for these programs.
For Study Island, you can select the state programs option or US programs option and then choose any of the grade levels and courses you would like from the drop down menu. Note that for grades K-1 you will need to select the US programs in order to access the content.
