Message from John Thorn the President of Harmony
Dear Harmony Families,
As another year draws to a close, we at Harmony want to thank you for letting us be a part of your homeschool program/online education/virtual learning. We have enjoyed being able to assist you in your educational pursuits.
Please know that over the summer months, Harmony will continue to focus on implementing improvements that will make what we have to offer fit your needs. We hope to enhance your student’s experience by making our processes easier, more effective and more efficient.
Just as a reminder, your student’s mentor should be the main point of contact for any and all questions or concerns.
We hope you have a great summer and look forward to working with you again next year!
Funding Increase
We are excited to announce starting in the 25/26 school year the student funding allotment will increase to $2025 in Utah.
Year End Lagoon Day
Harmony is excited for our year end field trip to Lagoon!
Where: 375 North Lagoon Dr, Farmington, UT 84025
When: May 29th Lagoon is Open 10:00am-9:00pm
Cost: $55 per person (students, parents and siblings, regardless of age. This is half the regular ticket price).
You can pay via Venmo harmony-ed Please be sure to include your student’s name and “Lagoon” in the “What’s this for?” section. You can be reimbursed for the student/students of Harmony and one parent if you have funds left. Just turn in a reimbursement request on our website with your Venmo receipt.
- The form needs to be filled out and attendees paid for by May 15th.
- We will be mailing your tickets to you prior to May 29th.
- We will have a pavilion reserved just for Harmony and will send out that information as it gets closer!

Re-enrollment is open for 2025-26
Re-enrollment for the 2025-26 school year has begun. An email with the subject line, Register Your Student for the 25-26’ School Year with Garfield Online / Harmony, was sent to families the last week of February. This email, sent from the Garfield Online Secretary (gosecretary@garfk12.org), contains instructions on how to re-register. If the email was not received, please check your spam folder or reach out to your mentor for assistance.
Options Day
Ready for a weekly adventure where learning comes alive?
Harmony’s Options Day offers your child an exciting, in-person experience packed with engaging electives, hands-on activities, and plenty of fun!
Each week, students enjoy:
- 4 hours of engaging, site-specific classes like crafts, music, robotics, publications, science experiments, and more
- A 30-minute lunch break for fun and socializing
- A supportive environment that makes learning exciting and meaningful
Tuition:
- $750/year for Harmony-enrolled students
- $825/year for self paying students
- $875/year for Utah Fits All Scholarship recipients

Flex Submission Dates
May 9 is the last Flex Direct and Flex Independent submission date for the 2nd semester. Be sure to submit your student’s worksheets on time as this tracks attendance and progress.
Log into the Family Resource Center and go to the Curriculum Orientation for helpful information about Flex Direct or Flex Independent courses. From the sidebar menu in the Flex Direct and Flex Independent sections, you will find FAQs, which include submission instructions and a submission video.
Portfolio Submissions for 4th Quarter
All portfolios must be submitted by May 9 to allow sufficient time for teachers to review and grade them.
The guidelines for portfolios are as follows:
Language Arts Portfolio Submission
Please submit 5-8 artifacts that meet the following requirements:
- Students have completed grade level work.
- At least 4 artifacts must be from your chosen curriculum.
- Student work is of a high quality, meaning:
- Learning objectives are explicit and/or explained
- Work is completed correctly
- Artifacts are clear and legible
- Artifacts cover an appropriate range of different concepts. For Language Arts, please include:
- 1 writing work sample
- 1 reading work sample
- 1 grammar/spelling work sample
- 2+ work samples of your choice
Math Portfolio Submission
Please submit 5-8 artifacts that meet the following requirements:
- Students have completed grade level work.
- At least 4 artifacts must be from your chosen curriculum.
- Student work is of a high quality, meaning:
- Learning objectives are explicit and/or explained
- Work is completed correctly
- Artifacts are clear and legible
- Artifacts cover at least 3 different math concepts.
Science Portfolio Submission
Please submit 5-8 artifacts that meet the following requirements:
- Students have completed grade level work.
- Student work is of a high quality, meaning:
- Learning objectives are explicit and/or explained
- Work is completed correctly
- Artifacts are clear and legible
- Artifacts cover at least 3 different science concepts.
Social Studies Portfolio Submission
Please submit 5-8 artifacts that meet the following requirements:
- Students have completed grade level work.
- Student work is of a high quality, meaning:
- Learning objectives are explicit and/or explained
- Work is completed correctly
- Artifacts are clear and legible
- Artifacts cover at least 3 different social studies concepts.
