Welcome back! We hope you had an amazing break and were able to do some fun things. As a new semester starts it is a great time to make sure everything is turned in on time. If you have online courses you can reach out to your mentor to create a new pacing guide.

Calendars
A great place to stay up-to-date on important dates is the calendar found on the parent dashboard. Here you’ll find information such as Flex submission dates, testing dates, school dates,  etc.

Click here for the official Iron County School District calendar for the 2023-24 school year.

Upcoming School Dates:
Feb 19: President’s Day (No School)
Mar 13-15: Teacher Prep Day (No School)

Important: Iron Homeroom / Attendance
Be sure to have your child respond to the weekly discussion post in the Iron Homeroom in Canvas. The question is posted each Friday, and you have until the following Friday to answer the question.  Responding each week provides Iron County a weekly “attendance log” and helps them to have a connection with students. This is an important part of your child’s attendance with Iron County.

If you have any questions about the weekly Homeroom question, please contact your mentor.

Re-enrollment 2024-25
Enrollment for the 2024-25 school year has begun. You should have received an email with instructions on how to re-enroll. If you haven’t received one, please check your spam folder or reach out to your mentor for help. If you have younger children or friends who would like to enroll, you can complete a new student application now. We look forward to working with your family for the new school year!

Prep for Rise and Aspire Testing
For all students testing for Rise and Aspire end of year testing letters with details on times and locations have all been sent out. If you haven’t received one please reach out to your mentor for details.

To help your student’s prep for the tests we have a few resources below.
This is a practice test from the state that your students can go over.

Another great resource is Study Island. You should have received the login information about this at the beginning of the year.

The guidelines for portfolios are as follows:

  • 5-8 portfolio items per subject.
  • Items need to show student work, and examples could include worksheets, reports, tests/quizzes, science projects, etc.  Remember that portfolio Items need to be the student’s actual work, not a learning log or description of what the student has been doing.
  • Portfolio items need to be grade-level work.
  • Portfolio items need to demonstrate student work over the course of 2 months.

Spotlight: Spelling Stars
Did you know that Harmony provides Spelling Stars accounts to all students? Students use the games to learn to spell in an easy and motivating way. Games include some classics like Fill in the Blank, Mouse Maze, and Word Search, as well as some fun unique games like Crazy Fish and Bink Bonk.

You are encouraged to use this program with your children as best meets their needs. There are no expected number of activities, and students are not required to use this program.

A new Spelling Stars section has been added to Harmony’s Curriculum Orientation, and you can find it here.

Resource Orders
Resource ordering is now closed. If you placed an order before January 31st it will be completed. Reimbursements will be open until the end of May.

Second semester ordering period is Dec 1 – Jan 31.
