Aloha Harmony/Kaupe’a Students,

Welcome to the 2023-24 school year! We are excited for what the year will bring and are honored to work with your families. Thank you for the opportunity. We appreciate every one of you!

For our newcomers this year, welcome to the family. It is a steep learning curve coming into our program, but don’t worry, you’ll get it! In a nutshell, Harmony is here to provide you with the curriculum and resources that you need to meet grade level expectations. The Kaupe’a/Laupahoehoe CPCS team is here to support you academically. If you have any questions about how to order curriculum or any issues with logins come to me. For academic concerns, or questions about the Homeroom assignments, or live Zoom sessions, go to your teacher.

We are blessed to have some stellar teachers to work with at Laupahoehoe; Talia Capdepon, Cheryl Borsh, Julie Rix and Brittany Kassel. They will be your main point of contact throughout the year. They send weekly emails that are very important to open and read each week.

Parent Dashboard

This is your main site for Harmony. You can take care of everything from one page: resource ordering, Help Desk tickets, and course selection information.

Many of you have already selected courses, thank you for that. If you were one of the early students to complete this, you already have your Canvas logins and Flex sheets. If you just got that done, know that both will be emailed to you shortly.

Middle and High School students, online logins will also be emailed to you. You have two weeks to decide if you wish to make a change in those courses, please login to your curriculum as soon as those logins arrive to make sure it is the course that you want.

Canvas Information

Canvas is where you will upload Flex sheets, please stay on top of those deadlines. It is also where you will find your Homeroom classroom run by your grade level teacher from Kaupe’a. It is important that you check in weekly to the Homeroom to complete the assignments and check on live Zoom session recordings.

A new feature this year is the ability to download Flex sheets directly from Canvas. The worksheets are emailed to you, however, if you misplace that email you can find your Flex sheets in Canvas by clicking into one of the Courses and locating the “Worksheet PDF”. Completing the quizzes (digital versions of the worksheets), in each subject is still an option.

Friendly reminder, Flex sheets are NOT a curriculum. They are an assessment tool to show the school that your student is learning grade-level content. You may purchase curriculum using your Harmony funds via the Resource Ordering section of the Parent Dashboard. We also have several online options for purchase in the Curriculum Subscriptions section. MobyMax is a good general choice as it covers all core subjects.

Resource and Curriculum Orders

Now that most students are through the enrollment process, we are working as quickly as possible to fill orders for curriculum and resources. Please be patient as we fill those orders. We know that you are excited to begin! If your order has not been placed within two weeks (ten business days), please create a Help Ticket to talk directly to the Ordering Department. We are working hard to serve as many students as we can, and we truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we process orders.

Pro-tip: use the Technology section of the Parent Dashboard to order tablets, devices and computers. They will be prioritized over other orders! We do recommend that all students have a computer or tablet of their own so they can attend the Zoom calls without having to use mom’s computer.

Edventure Learning Site – Ocean View

We have a great opportunity for your child/ren to participate in a hands-on, fun and engaging enrichment program.  Ed-Venture is a program of Harmony Educational Services. Students will participate in Music, Hawaiian studies, art and more.

Currently, we only have enough interest to have a site in Ocean View. We hope to gain more traction to start these sites in Hilo, Hamakua or Kona eventually.

Details of the program:

  • Tuesdays beginning in September
  • 8:30am-11:30am
  • K-8th grade
  • Program cost – $450.00 you may use your Harmony funds to cover this, making it free to you. Select Ed-Venture Program as a Third Party provider and your funds will automatically secure your child/ren’s spot in the program.
  • Tuition for non-Kaupe’a students – $450.00 first child for the 9 months, sibling discount is 5% – $427.50 – $50 a month or $42.75 a month tuition for siblings.
  • A $100.00 deposit ASAP holds your spot. First tuition payment due September 1st.  Venmo: @harmony-education  Please include: name of parent, email and cell of parent, name of each child and their grade level. Once received we will send out an email to each of you to get the information for your student.

Positive Parenting Statement of the Month

“To raise a child who is comfortable enough to leave you means you’ve done a good job. They are not ours to keep but to teach how to soar on their own.”  – Unknown
