Harmony Options Day
Harmony Educational Services offers a fun, onsite and in person educational program. Your student can join us once a week where they will have a blast, make new friends, and learn exciting new things! Our classes can fulfill the elective requirement for their education.
Students attend one day a week at a location that is convenient for you for 4 hours of different elective classes plus a half hour lunch break. We offer a wide variety of classes each year that are unique to each site. Some common classes you may find are art, music, P.E., self defense, and creative writing along with so many others that offer hands-on experiences for your student. A sample of our courses for Options Day is as follows:
Everyday Adventures (Grades 4-8)– Students will learn valuable life skills, practice social emotional well-being and build friendships through fun activities, crafts, DIY projects and games. What are “life skills”? Life skills are the tools we use to deal with daily situations, make important decisions, and overall enhance our quality of life. Examples include goal setting, planning, domestic skills, safety, financial planning, problem solving and so much more! Knowing and practicing these skills, especially with peers, gives youth an amazing head start in developing the self confidence to successfully handle life’s “Everyday Adventures”!
Intro to Filmmaking (Grades 6-8)- An introduction to films and film making, including: history, techniques, processes, and more. This class will not only have live action, but will also touch on other elements such as animation and model effects. There will be a mix of lectures and hands-on learning.
Lego Robotics (Grades 5-8)– Design, code, embellish Lego robots and complete Lego challenges. We’ve got more robots and tablets for even more hands-on fun and new builds!
Music and Improv (Grades 3-8)- This class provides a structured approach to introducing music, song and improvisation concepts to students while fostering creativity, collaboration and musical expression. We’ll learn a variety of concepts including rhythm, pitch awareness and basic vocal skills, musical instruments and their families, explore musical genres and styles and engage in fun activities that will encourage creative expression such as improvisational techniques.
Music and Improv (Grades K-2)– This class provides a balanced approach to introducing young children to music, singing and improvisations while fostering creativity, expression, and appreciation for different musical elements. We’ll learn about basic musical concepts and rhythm, explore our voices and different vocal sounds, introduce various musical instruments and their sounds and reinforce musical concepts through interactive games, and explore musical storytelling. Come learn with us and we’ll play rhythm games, learn songs and practice singing in harmony and play games with musical instruments. Students will also have the opportunity to prepare a short performance such as a song, dance or musical story to present to the class as students learn movement and expression through music.
Passport Explorers (Grades K-8)- Grab your passports and join us on an adventure around the world. We’ll discover more about other countries, cultures, and history around the world through hands-on experiences and engaging projects. We’ll be learning about local art, diverse music, cultural dance, culinary delights and more!
Wildlife Wanderers (Grades K-2)– Students will learn about nature, explore biomes, and discover plants and animals through “free play” sensory based activities and crafting.
